🌟 Important Giving Updates 🌟 4/26/2024
Important updates regarding our giving as we transition to Faith United Methodist Church on May 19th.
Your generous stewardship has been a cornerstone of Mt Bethel Church.
Here is how you can ensure a smooth transition:
📝 Checks: If you have been giving via check, please continue to make them out to Mt Bethel until Sunday, May 12th. On May 19th, our membership will transfer to Faith United Methodist, so then, your checks should be made out to Faith Church. If you forget and make the check to Mt Bethel, don't worry! We will endorse the back for deposit by Faith Church.
💻 Online Payment: For those using online checking, please update your Bill Pay to Faith United Methodist Church. No need to change the mailing address (3239 70th Street, IGH, MN). If you need assistance with your user ID/password, your bank can help.
💰 Qualified Charitable Distribution: If you have set up scheduled distributions from your Traditional IRA, contact your financial advisor to switch disbursements to Faith Church. Each institution varies, but they will guide you through it. Consider including your name and the area donated to on checks or paperwork, like "from FIRST LAST name to General Ministry Fund".
💟 GIVE Button: Our website's GIVE button will switch to directing gifts to Faith United Methodist Church's Tithe.ly page on May 18th to donate.

Dear Pastor and Congregation of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church:
Thank you for paying 100 percent apportionments in 2023! The River Valley District increased its payment last year by 9.5%, bringing it to lead the Conference at an 85.2% rate. Appointment giving is a powerful way for us to work together across Minnesota to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
In a world that is sowing division in ever newer ways, our common work builds a bridge across those divides. As Greater Minnesota and urban churches, with centrist, progressive, and traditional theologies, as small and large congregations our connection is a witness that the body of Christ can still make a difference. United, we support ministry by resourcing churches and clergy through things such as the Fresh Expressions initiative, support and continuing education opportunities for clergy, Conference wide work on anti-racism, as well as the ways Conference staff, including your Superintendent, works with you.
Your congregation joins 50 others in the River Valley District in paying apportionments in full. Thank you for your steadfast faithfulness to our common ministry. I have included a Certificate of Appreciation to honor your commitment.
Our apportionments undergird the Minnesota Annual Conference, and the worldwide United Methodist Church, in our witness to Christ. May God continue to work through your church as you bless the world around you.
In Christ, Rev. Michelle Hargrave, District Superintendent

History of a Cairn in Hiking, also known as an Ebenezer stone.Humans have been using cairns - Ebenezer as trail markers for thousands of years. You will often find Cairns in open areas, above the treeline where trail signs may not be easy to spot. Cairns play a vital role in keeping hikers safe and on the right trail. In remote or mountainous areas, it’s easy to get lost, and cairns can function as a guide, showing the way back to the start of the trail or indicating the right path to follow.
️ The word cairn originates from the Scottish Gaelic word “carn,” which means heap of rocks. Cairns date back to ancient times, with the first documented use of a cairn being in Scotland over 4000 years ago. At that time, people built cairns to mark important landmarks such as mountain summits or grave sites.
Over time, cairns have evolved into being used more as a navigational aid for travelers in rugged terrain. Now, with the aid of technology and global positioning systems, cairns hold their significance in helping hikers avoid getting lost.
Cairns also serve as a reminder to hikers that they are not alone and that others have trod the path before them.
Cairns have also become a way to connect with those who have hiked the same trails, bridging the gap between one hiker and the other.
Notice the cairn in front of our own church. It marks the way to our church, through Jesus, and someday to peace among mankind. Look up and you will notice our cairn marks not only the way to our church, but to our salvation.
