 Prayer
  • May we pray for you? Click here, let us know. May we lift joy or your burden to the Lord?
  • Monday morning 7am Power Prayers meeting: share joys & burdens, share together the Upper Room devotional, and pray.  Zoom link posted in the calendar;

Mt Bethel Church voted change its ministry into a legacy ministry in July, 2022.  Since then, we have been sharing our stories together. Through the sharing of stories, we have been thinking about who we are, our faith (discipleship), and what our legacy can be. So far, Darlene, Stephanie, Deb, Thelma, Polly, Judy, Barb, and Ardi have shared their wonderful faith stories and Mt. Bethel’s various ministries. If you want to share stories, please contact Pastor Hannah Choi.
Our transitional time is not easy, but let us do this together in harmony, humility, and love. So that we can leave our wonderful legacies in a blessed way. Our legacy will be remembered, transformed, and multiplied.

Monday, Aug. 28th we got to feed lunch to our neighbors down the street; the staff of Hilltop Elementary AND... Salem Hills Elementary from across town.
When we arrived for lunch setup we learned our serving location would be in a different location for Salem Hills staff were also using Hilltop as their 1st day of teacher-workshop meetings due to construction at Salem Hills Elementary campus. So too, they were working from the Hilltop campus getting lots of Inservice accomplished…. Hummm could we serve Salem Hills staff too???
A quick phone call to Cub Foods deli… if it was possible to make 1 more sub sandwich platter & have it ready in 30 minutes – Cub said Yes we can!
We told Hilltop that we would have enough to serve the Staff of Salem Hills too… spread the word to them, lunch at noon.
Now the reason was revealed… the inner voice that said, be generous in the plan for serving the neighbors.

On magnificent Monday ... the first day of 2023-2024 school year for Hilltop Elementary AND Salem Hills Elementary staff, lunch was provided by Mt Bethel Church.
Thanks for the help Judy A, Terry A, George A, Mary A, Mark Z & Polly T.
Missed the faces in the pic of the leftovers ~ (lol) nice feet...

There is enough love for All of Us

Living well, dying well, loving well: Advance Care Planning (ACP) is a process that helps you think about, talk about, and write down your choices for future health care decisions.  While it's not an easy topic to consider, it is important for every adult to have a Health Care Directive - a written plan for loved ones and health care providers to follow - so that your wishes are known if a time comes when you cannot speak for yourself.

Qualified Charitable Distributions From Retirement Accounts.  Or click here to read
Did you know .... that if you are 72 years old, you are required to take money from your Traditional IRA. You can do it as a Qualified Disbursement to Mt Bethel Church.  If funds are sent directly from the financial institution to Mt Bethel Church, it becomes tax-exempt.  One of our givers recently said they saved several hundred dollars on their tax bill. Example.  If you take out $1000, minus tax, you may get ~$800 in your checking account.    If you take out $1000, tax exempt, and have it sent to Mt Bethel Church, it will be $1000.  It’s a good way to optimize your funds and meet your planned Church giving.   This can be done monthly, quarterly or yearly.  Talk to your financial advisor.  Edward Jones told our FInance Chair “It’s usually a good deal for you, it’s never worse.”
  • Donors must be age 72 or older
  • Funds must come from a tax deferred retirement account, i.e. traditional IRA, 401k, 403b, 457 plans. Roth IRA’s are not eligible.
  • Your gift must go directly to the charity ~ Mt Bethel Church. You cannot receive the cash first.
  • The maximum contribution is $100,000.
  • The Qualified Charitable Distribution can be activated year around (monthly, quarterly or yearly) and can be deactivated by the donor if circumstances change.
