Pray for Rain – James 5:13-20
It is time to pray!  Be specific, timely, & inclusive.  Pray for…

1.       Yourself, your spouse, your children.  Determine to rededicate your life to Jesus.  Pray that your family will know God’s blessing.
2.       Peace.  Pray for the Prince of Peace to be received in the world.  “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.”
3.       Unity.  In the garden Jesus prayed for unity for His followers.  His desire is “that they all may be one!”
4.       New believers.  Jesus prayed for those who would believe through the preaching of His disciples.  Many people in our world and community need the Lord.  Make a list of people in your life that need to become believers.
5.       The Lost.  Praying for lost souls does not change God’s mind about their condition or make Heaven more willing to save.  Praying for the lost changes our minds as we begin to see the lost through God’s eyes.  Pray for missionaries and the ministry of the church in the world.
6.       Change.  Things change.  Sometimes we resist change.  But change is needed, and the change that is needed needs to be Godly and righteous.
7.       Pray-ers.  Ask the Lord for prayer warriors who will focus on our church, lead the spiritual battle against evil, and encourage those needing specific, intercessory prayer.  Remember, “prayer does not change things; prayer changes people!”  Pray for the Monday morning “Power Prayers” group & our in home Church 2 small groups.
8.       Neighbors.  Pray that we will be used by the Lord to affect our neighbors positively.
9.       Public servants.  Our community depends upon police, firefighters, teachers, emergency technicians, and countless others.
10.   Givers.  Rather than bemoaning the traumatic consequences of the global recession, thank God that He has promised to supply all of our needs.  Pray that we will have faith to “give it away!”
11.   Discernment.  Scripture invites us to pray for wisdom we lack.  God’s Word, the Holy Spirit, and spiritual leaders can guide us to discover God’s will.  “Thy will be done…”
12.   National leaders.  Pray for the President & for all governmental leaders.  “When we pray for God to change leaders, we affect them and everyone who follows them.  Praying for our leaders results in an atmosphere conducive to the spreading of the gospel”
(John Maxwell- See I Timothy 2:1-4).
13.   Pastor.  Ask the Holy Spirit to anoint the Pastor Dave Johnston's sermons, prayer life, & leadership.  Pray for his spouse Jeanie and their family
14.   Our Church.  Pray that we may be united together for Jesus Christ.
15.   Revival.  Pray for the work of the Holy Spirit in and through our church.
16.   Maturity.  Pray that we will move to spiritual maturity.  Jesus called us to be His disciples.  He calls us to grow in our spiritual lives.
17.   Vision.  Pray that God will help us to walk by faith and not by sight.  Pray that God will help us to see the spiritual.   Vision sees potential and claims the promise of God’s power to achieve.
18.   More workers.  Jesus never asked us to pray for the harvest.  The harvest is ready.  Many are on the verge of coming to Christ and are waiting to be gathered.  Jesus commands us to pray the Lord of the harvest will send forth workers.  Pray for our committees and leaders.  Pray for our office administrator.
19.   Holiness.  Spiritual disciplines should mark our lives.  Bible study & reading, prayer, fellowship, witnessing & obedience.  We should not be captive to sin, but growing towards perfection.
20.   The United Methodist Church.  Pray for other churches.  Pray for Bishop Bruce Ough.  Pray for our District Superintendent,
Rev. Cynthia Williams.  Pray for other national leaders and the decisions being made in annual and general conferences.
21.   Other churches.  Many churches in our community are doing the Lord’s work.
22.   Those who are sick.  These are often mentioned in our joys and concerns.  We believe in Christ’s healing.
23.   Those who grieve.  We often hear of tragic, untimely deaths.  We know of many who pass away.  Pray for families to turn to God in this time.
24.   Love.  Pray for broken lives and broken families.  Pray that your heart will be full of love for God and people.
25.   Jesus’ Return.  Pray that Jesus comes soon.  Desire the coming of your Redeemer.  “Even so, Lord Jesus, come.”

…. for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen
